Mark Alan Hedges from Santa Cruz, California studied philosophy at UC San Diego, a program heavy on science, logic, literature and history. He lived in the war zone formerly known as Hollywood until he got wise, gave up on the Hollywood Hope Machine and got the heck out. Mark won several film festival awards and final placements for feature screenplays. One was a permitted adaptation of David Brin's sci-fi novel Glory Season. Another is Empire of Blood, which he adapted to a graphic novel. Mark's writing examines characters who must find their self-identity, before they can break free from others' expectations to achieve their outward goals. This is especially relevant when portraying children in difficult situations, who must grow up too early in order to survive. Mark seeks to elevate people, to raise us up beyond the limits of our thinking, and to inspire us to educate ourselves.- Art Department
